*New* Set V at 50%

Ahhhhh the joys of the opacity tool... when it comes to actions we can't reiterate enough how important it is to play about with opacity and find what suits you and your pics best!
Here is a little slideshow of our latest set of actions but this time at 50% opacity - just to show you the difference it can make :)
Happy Monday everyone...

3 Ways To Use Basic Fade

I'm a big fan of last week's £1 Action Basic Fade so thought today I'd show you some different ways to use it!

This is the image with no action on it...

1. Keep it nice and simple with Basic Fade at 100%:

2. Mix it up with Basic Fade at 50% over a strong action like Cookies And Cream (from Set I & II):

3. Create a super dreamy effect by putting Basic Fade at 40% over something like Light Haze (from Set III):

Bye for now...

Our latest £1 actions

I've been playing around with our latest £1 actions on this image Lisa took at Christine and Fadi's wedding. I love how these very simple actions can be mixed together to create something really stylish...

The Thursday tip this week is a little tutorial on how to use the Convert To Black and White tool that comes with our sets of actions. It's pretty essential if you want to change the opacity of Black and White actions like Silverback, Earl Grey, Silver Plate, Casablanca etc. Check it out below. It's also on our Tips and Tricks tab along with a couple of other nifty little tutorials...

Thursday Tip: Get Stuck In!

So you want to get the most out of your actions and avoid making your pics look like everyone elses?! Well my advice is don't hold back with trying out different combinations, you can use our actions as a basis for creating your very own unique set!
Below is a pic of Lisa's super gorgeous kids, Sorcha and Keeva. I ran a few of my favourite actions and then played around with their order and opacity, it didn't take me long to come to these combinations which I think work really well and are totally unique!

 Pistachio Haze - Set I & II
Chocolate Milkshake - Set III
Nevada, 35mm and Fine Grain - Set IIII

Thursday Tip: Best Actions for Dark Pics

Last week I was talking about which actions I think are best for very bright photos, so today I thought I'd talk about which ones are best for dark pics. Now when I say dark obviously I don't mean under-exposed photographs but rather pics like this one below where there's no white dress and no sky and quite dark tones in the background.
Now the great thing about pics like this is that they can actually take the strong actions on better than bright photos and you're less likely to lose any content. I found that most of our actions worked on this particular photo but settled on these 8 as the best of the bunch!

Actions used:
From Set I & II - Basic Pop, Vintage Rose and Pistachio Haze
From Set III - Vanilla Milkshake and Petal
From Set IIII - Silver Plate, Super 8 and Malibu

Thursday Tip: Experiment

So you've bought some of our actions? Well now it's time to experiment! The best advice I can give is to try them all, make some favourites and figure out what works for you. Remember not all of the actions will look good on every photo! It depends on the light, the colours and so much more, so remember to revisit actions that may not have worked for you before. We'll be giving you more advice soon on what we think are some of our best actions for specific light conditions. As well as all this, don't forget to try the actions on other images besides weddings. Lots of them are super flattering on skin tones so are perfect for portraits - especially of little ones (see below for an example by Lisa), and we LOVE using them on still lives.
Have fun guys!

Sunset Boulevard is part of Set IIII.
